Not in Kansas anymore.

Hello friends. We are now in Vail, CO. The photos below are from Kansas City, MO through the state of Kansas and into Colorado. We did this drive at night because we figured we can take shifts driving through Kansas as it is better to be seen in the dark. Also, it rained pretty much the whole time we were in Kansas City. Seemed the best to get the big driving days done.

After today we will be leaving Vail and start the actual camping part of our trip. The plan is to meander South and West through Colorado toward the 4-corners area/Grand Canyon. Next time I post here will likely be from Durango, CO.

So in the above photos we were at a rest stop on Loveland Pass, on top of the Continental Divide. A group of the same kind of vans as below stopped there and a lot of Germans got out. We wondered about what was going on. It seemed like some kind of race and they were all in Volkswagen's with Arizona license plates. Strange. So we go to get in the car to leave and these 3 white pick-up trucks pull in. Each identical and with a covering over the front of the truck so you could not read any logos or distinguish the make. This was too odd. So Micah got out to go talk to one of the drivers of the white pick-up. He said that he could not tell us what was going on. It was top-secret and then he left. Micah decided to go to the driver of one of the below vans and ask. The driver also said it was top-secret and that we would have to wait. Micah said, "Come on, we're driving a Volkswagen too! We're your friends." The man said that we would have to wait and we would have to buy a new car. All of these guys were running laptops in their cars. So it would seem (and I did not think to take photos of them) that we just saw the new Volkswagen pick-up truck being tested. Makes sense. Also, the truck is about the size of a Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier. Anyway, the van :
