Californians Dreamin'

alright. it's about time i mention something about the music we have been listening to on this trip. lately it seems as though Hank Williams Jr.'s greatest hits disc has covered the most ground. i was thinking of telling the folks reading this blog what we have been listening. however, overall it seems not all that interesting other than to me. variety.

we are now in Humboldt County California. we are visiting my step brother Mike here as this is where he lives. we are hanging out around here and exploring for a bit.

i finally got new batteries for my camera. i have not taken another new photo worth mentioning aside from what you see here. i will kick-start myself on that one again tomorrow.

what you will find following this and the next paragraph are photos of things we saw from South Lake Tahoe, CA through to Eureka, CA. from the first photograph onward will be missing Mr Jon Marr Esq. as he went to San Francisco to visit a friend named Aleigh. Micah and i jumped into Chris Davis' Jeep in an attempt to keep within the forest/mountain/etc. and not delve into the city quite yet. the out-of-doors was feeling nice and staying in them seemed like the best idea.

we are now at a Quality Inn in Eureka. Its a pretty nice room and our first hotel room of the trip. all other days/night were spent in friends homes or in tents. tomorrow will be 1 month.

enjoy yo self :

outside Tahoe Lake after a night spent camping in the largest field of deer shit ever. the place was literally carpeted in it. i wish i had taken pictures :

looking for a campsite we found (via 4 wheel drive) this closed road with a semi-collapsed bridge :

the river next to our campsite. this site provided dish washing and "showering" at our convenience :

from highway 89 on our way into Lassen Volcanic Area National Park :
Lassen Volcanic Area National Park :

my banana revenge (see first post). they have now fenced off these sulfur pits which are directly beside the road. their reasoning seems to come from when apparently someone decided to be strong and stand on one but fell in and was burnt :
Chris 15-20ft over the stream :

Micah took pictures as well :

on our way to the park this day we noticed a whole lot of butterflies about the road. definitely hit many of them. as we got up into the park we found that there were millions more all over the place. they were flying together in the same direction in a serious migration effort. it was amazing to see and stand in the middle of. the photos don't do justice :

Hawks. don't forget you can click on the photo to see a bigger and better version! :
a boulder at the trail head for Bumpass Hell (yes, that is the name) with Chris assessing and the ascending :

this is Kenny Bloggins as he looked out his window... :
at this.... :

now in Trinity County California. our campsite on Ruth Resivour :
a long day of driving :
Redwood State Park where we camped nearly 2yrs ago (see first post) :

Micah checking out the same fire place he built 2yrs ago. the thing was completely untouched and the small leftover pile of wood from then is still there now :

the same panoramic photo as before :

a horse :
the beach :

the end :

so i'll be posting on here again of course but it will be a bit. i rarely have internet access these days. however, Oregon and Washington still await.
